Curious about the history of the land where you work, live, and play? Native Land is a great starting point for additional research.

Thank you Class of 2025!

The Reciprocity Rx Pathfinders retreat is designed to rejuvenate your mind, body, and spirit amidst the breathtaking landscapes of the rugged Montana wilderness. By combining environmental stewardship, self-discovery, and the serenity of nature, you can look forward to a truly immersive experience in the wilderness.

Healing With The Land: During the retreat, participants will be introduced to our environmental stewardship project focused conserving the natural resources in Glacier National Park. Led by experienced guides and environmental experts from Glacier Institute and Glacier National Park, participants will engage in a conservation project, working together to protect and preserve this wonderful landscape. This impactful endeavor not only contributes to the conservation of the environment but also fosters a sense of responsibility and connection to the land.

Meals Included: Throughout the retreat, guests can look forward to delicious and nourishing meals. Our partners at the Glacier Institute have created a menu that not only satisfies the taste buds but also supports the principles of sustainable and mindful eating. Meals will be enjoyed in a communal setting, fostering a sense of community and shared appreciation for wholesome, healthful food.

Accommodations Included: As the day's activities wind down, participants will have the opportunity to return to The Glacier Park Field Camp, a National Park Service facility operated by the Glacier Institute, is located just inside the West Glacier entrance of Glacier National Park on a bluff overlooking the Middle Fork of the Flathead River. Field Camp has five cabins for student housing, a community kitchen where the chef will prepare our meals, an energy efficient bathhouse with hot showers, a classroom and the Morris Brown Myerowitz Memorial Library, that contains a myriad of educational materials on the Crown of the Continent ecosystem.

Self-Discovery Workshops: By the time we meet in Montana, you’ll be well-versed in our methodology. The retreat offers a series of self-discovery workshops designed to enhance personal growth and well-being. Sydney and Barry Williams will guide participants through activities such as meditation, journaling, and group discussions. These workshops will encourage self-reflection, mindfulness, and the development of strategies for achieving balance and harmony in daily life.

This Reciprocity Rx Glacier National Park Retreat aims to leave participants with a sense of rejuvenation, a deeper connection to the environment, and newfound insights into their own well-being. It's a holistic journey that combines the beauty of nature, the joy of community, and the fulfillment that comes from contributing to the preservation of our natural wonders.

Community Testimonials

  • In Glacier, I arrived. In the present moment, in the beauty of its wilderness, and in the company of fellow humans who warmed my soul. Glacier was my summit after a long, arduous journey - the trailhead a chasm of darkness in the midst of divorce and other trauma. Every step in Glacier reminded me how far I've come and how much I've healed since then, guided by several Hiking My Feelings retreats along the way - through the deserts, the forests, and now the mountains. The mountains witnessed us as we explored their gorgeous valleys, meadows, lakes, and forests. We shared vulnerable stories, laughed into the night, cried tears of joy and heartache, and hiked trails that were both breathtaking and life-changing. Life-affirming. This retreat affirmed that I am doing the work - that I am on the right path, that I am worthy of self-love, that I am worthy of healing. If you feel nature calling to you - if you have a deep longing to heal and reconnect with the parts of yourself buried beneath layers of limiting beliefs, anxiety, and pain - please, listen. After many years of ignoring that voice, I finally listened. It led me to Hiking My Feelings, and it has changed my life. It has given me the language and tools for a healing journey that once felt out of reach, and it has deepened my connection to both my inner self and the land. Now, I have the confidence - the knowing - that I can hike any hike, no matter how difficult or dark, and find my way to the summit.

  • At the time that I signed up for the Glacier National Park retreat I knew I was craving: connection, doing something of my own, & visiting a place I was nervous to visit alone. I had no idea what my life would look like in 8 months from signing up, but I knew I wanted to be there. It was comforting to know this was waiting for me as I navigated grief and emotional transformation throughout the year. It is such a unique community experience to meet with a container of people virtually on a monthly basis leading up to a trip. Some friendships were made before even arriving, and there was so much space for connection on the trail, in the water, in the van, and in the cabins. Together we got to prove our bodies can carry us, our emotions are safe to be shown, and we all have an inner child just waiting to come out to play. In some ways it is a soft place to land, and in other ways it is often a mirror showing you where you need to look more closely. Sydney and Barry bring such a wonderful balance of education, movement, and reflection - it never feels like too much of any one aspect, and I’m so grateful these programs exist!

    Suzanne F, Class of 2025

  • I signed up for the retreat during a challenging time in my marriage, hoping it would be a way to prioritize myself. In the monthly calls, I felt supported and cared for. It was refreshing to be among a group of women who showed up with such authenticity and vulnerability. When we finally met in person, I was greeted not by strangers, but by friends. Over the days that followed, we shared laughter and tears, stood in awe of breathtaking views, and found renewal in glacial lakes. Initially, I worried whether I was the right age for the retreat. What I discovered was the beauty of four decades of women supporting one another - each offering insight and perspective from her own stage of life. If you’re considering this retreat, do it. If you’re going through a life transition or struggle - this is for you. If your life feels calm - this is for you. Whatever brings you here, you’ll leave feeling seen, open, and more present in your own life.

    Rhiannon, Class of 2025

  • Leaving the noise of suburbia behind, I saw the Glacier National Park sign, and I took it all in. Calm, peaceful, seen, heard, safe, vulnerable, reassured, inspired, accepted - these are all things I felt at the Glacier retreat. The participants and staff, the accommodations, the hikes, the views, the talks, the friendships made, the partnership between Hiking My Feelings and the Glacier Institute was nothing short of extraordinary. If you’re looking for something or some place to help you feel ‘whole’ again or you just need to vent and not be judged, look no further. This program will make you look inward to face your fears and also to see your triumphs by using nature to help heal you along the way. Nature is a very powerful remedy to help ground us when things seem uncertain. I cannot recommend Hiking My Feelings enough! Through this program I have learned that water, calms my nerves. The majestic mountains, make me feel free, untethered, and empowered. The trees swaying in the wind, make me feel sturdy and strong. The trails, help me to feel grounded and in control. The monthly calls we had up until the retreat were incredibly beneficial! It made meeting everyone in person much less stressful. If you’re trying to reconnect with yourself, connect with others or connect with nature, why not give this program a try!

  • Turn your pain into purpose. Part inspirational memoir, part practical guide, Hiking Your Feelings offers a toolkit to unpack your “trauma pack” and step into the best version of yourself.

Join wellness advocate and wilderness guide Sydney Williams as she shares her healing journey from eating and drinking her feelings to hiking her feelings. When Sydney unexpectedly found herself diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, while grappling with grief and unresolved trauma built up over a decade, she set out on a quest to turn her pain into power. Two hikes across Catalina Island and eighty miles later, she learned to disconnect from distractions and reconnect with herself, all through the power of nature. Now, she’s encouraging others to get outside and blaze their own trail to self-love, turning buried traumas into healthy coping mechanisms. With affirmations, prompts, and reflection exercises throughout—all presented from Sydney’s supportive and self-effacing perspective—Hiking Your Feelings offers a toolkit to unpack your “trauma pack” and step into the best version of yourself.

INSPIRATIONAL & INSIGHTFUL: Follow Sydney as she reflects on her own journey from buried traumas and poor body image to acceptance, healthy coping mechanisms, and self-love.

RELATABLE & UNIVERSAL: Touches on themes and problems that many struggle with, including grief and loss, sexual assault, poor body image, career stress, and the stigma of diabetes, all presented from Sydney’s supportive and self-effacing perspective.

HEALING POWER OF NATURE: Discover how getting outside—even just for a walk around the block—can help you tune into your body better.

HIKE YOUR OWN HIKE: Learn to love yourself as you are now. Go from eating, drinking, working, or spending your feelings to hiking your feelings.

UNPACK YOUR TRAUMA PACK: Identify new activities and rituals that will allow you to choose love over fear and lift the invisible weight from your shoulders.

PROMPTS, ACTIVITIES & EXERCISES: Apply the lessons Sydney has learned to your own life, through thoughtful tasks at the end of each chapter.
